What is Solar Rakyat Sabah?
A government scheme that lets Sabah homeowners put solar on their roof, power their home, and send extra energy to the grid for credit on their SESB bill.
Lower Your Bill
Use your own solar power by day and pay Sabah Electricity for less.
Rely Less on the Grid
Generate your own clean electricity instead of drawing it all from SESB.
A Cleaner Sabah
Every rooftop system helps build a greener, more sustainable Sabah.
We Handle Your Whole Application
Solar Rakyat requires a licensed ECoS Class PV (Grid-Connected) contractor to submit your application. Easy Solar is one — so you never touch the paperwork. Here's the journey we run for you:

We size the right system for your roof and daily usage.
Application Submitted
We lodge everything through the ECoS EEISy portal for you.
Sabah Electricity Liaison
We deal with SESB on your behalf — no chasing, no forms.
Installation

Testing & Commissioning
We test, commission, and make sure it all meets the rules.
Approved & Switched On
You get your approval to operate and start running on solar.

Start My ApplicationFrequently Asked Questions
Who can join Solar Rakyat Sabah?
Domestic (home) Sabah Electricity account holders in a private residence, who haven't already joined an earlier solar scheme (Feed-in Tariff, SELCO-PV Sabah, or NEM 1.0).
Do I have to deal with the paperwork myself?
No. The programme requires a licensed Class PV (Grid-Connected) contractor to submit and manage your application. Easy Solar does all of it for you.
How long does approval take?
ECoS notifies you within 14 working days of receiving a complete application. Approved homeowners get a Solar Rakyat Approval to Install (SRATI).
Is there an application fee?
ECoS charges no application fee. You pay for your equipment, installation, and the smart meter (RM400 single phase / RM450 three phase from Sabah Electricity).
Can I add a battery?
Yes. A battery is allowed, but it's for your own use only — stored power can't be exported to the grid.
Do I get cash for the extra power I export?
No. Extra power becomes bill credits (valid up to 12 months), not cash, and can only offset your own SESB account.
What size system can I install?
Up to 5 kWac for single-phase homes, or 10 kWac for three-phase homes. Panels go on your roof or porch — ground-mounted systems aren't allowed.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
Yes — you sign a 12-year agreement with Sabah Electricity (SE) for the net energy metering arrangement.
How long is the programme open?
Solar Rakyat Sabah runs first-come, first-served with a 20 MW quota, until 30 June 2028 or until the quota is full — whichever comes first.
